Early Years Foundation Framework

The Early Years Foundation Stage Framework (EYFS) is a crucial statutory framework that governs preschools, nurseries, and schools.

It establishes essential standards for learning, development, and care for children from birth to age five. By adhering to the EYFS, early years providers can ensure that every child receives a high-quality foundation in their formative years, promoting their overall and growth.

Emphasising play-based learning, the EYFS fosters an environment where children can thrive and reach their full potential.

Development is tracked and activities are planned around seven areas:

Four Specific areas

  • Literacy

  • Mathematics

  • Understanding the world

  • Expressive arts and design

EYFS also covers the welfare of children and legal requirements that childcare providers must adhere to.
