Sustainable Education for Children
At Clare’s Little Bears, we care deeply about the world our children are growing up in and believe that even the smallest actions can make a big difference. Habits formed in the early years often last a lifetime, making it important to introduce sustainable values and practices from a young age. Children’s ability to learn during these formative years is greater than at any other stage of life, and we should never underestimate how much they absorb by watching adults role-model positive behaviours and by taking part in meaningful, hands-on experiences.
Sustainability is woven into our everyday practice and is rooted in values of social, environmental, and financial responsibility, as well as respect for children’s rights. Through everyday experiences, exploration, and play, we encourage children to develop a love and respect for the world around them while beginning to understand how their actions can positively impact their community and the environment.
We promote sustainable habits by role-modelling positive choices such as recycling, reducing waste, conserving water and energy, caring for our toys and resources, and making thoughtful decisions together. Wherever possible, we reuse and repurpose materials and incorporate natural and recycled resources into our play and learning experiences, helping children to explore creatively while appreciating the value of the world’s resources.
Children are given opportunities to connect with nature through outdoor play, planting and growing activities, caring for plants, and exploring the changing seasons. Through stories, discussions, and practical experiences, we help them develop an understanding of the environment, their place within it, and the ways they can contribute positively to the world around them.
By embedding sustainability into daily life, we aim to nurture curious, compassionate, responsible, and environmentally aware children who are equipped to care for both people and the planet, now and in the future.

Taking part in storytelling and discussions that promote kindness, fairness, community, and environmental awareness.
