Forest School post 🌳

Continuing our journey of 'All about me' making faces and talking about likes and dislikes, whose in our family. Also welcoming more new bears!!

Our theme this week was sight, how we use our eyes to see the wonderful things that are around us, where they come from, and to take a closer look with our magnifying glass 🔍

We embarked on a looking walk armed with binoculars and magnifying glasses, where we encountered snails, mushrooms, a moth, a slug, and an eggshell. This sparked a discussion about their origins. We emphasised the importance of not touching the mushrooms and learned how to handle the insects with care. 🐜 The children who held them displayed remarkable bravery as they allowed these creatures to walk up their arms.

The wait was over for Julia Donaldson’s new book ‘Gruffalo granny ’and it was a huge hit with the Bears this week, Sid the spider was back to greet the Bears and Miss Nikki led focus groups using our new book.

Wednesday bears 🐻 had a learning opportunity to use the hammer and nails to make an initial weave log. Both the metal hammer and the wooden mallets were used very well, great job those who created this . A great tool for homing fine motor skills by weaving the wool around the nails to make the initial.

New plants for gardening club on Thursday were placed, planted and watered, a favourite with alot of the Bears. Miss Sarah brought in her humungous heavy Fossill to look at, which was thrilling and very fascinating, the bears were very curious of what and where fossils are found.
