This week has been a very wet week and the Bears have all been amazingly resilient.
One of the Bears found a wooden ball which led to teamwork and creating a large guttering run for the ball to run down. We then tried the run with water which trickled all the way to the end, this was a very exciting challenge that the Bears found a large interest in and used critical thinking with.
Miss Sarah brought in some large wooden tongs, and the Bears practiced picking up the different shaped items, talking about whether they were small or large, heavy or light. They then placed sticks on the top to see if the bears could manoeuvre around the sticks.
We have had lots of splashing in the rain, using pots and pans to collect the water, and then using it for our mud kitchen and the water tubes.
Our tadpole update... 🐸 We now have a few tadpoles with back legs and Miss Nikki noticed one with four legs, so it's been fun watching them swim around using their legs.
The rain didn't stop us in our Wednesday fire class, the Bears helped Miss Kerrie to create a very tasty crumble, they chopped up the apples, scooped out the passion fruit, squirted the lemons, added the blackberries and for the crumble, they poured and stirred porridge oats, cinnamon, brown sugar and honey together.
It then started to rain as Miss Kerrie started lighting the fire, but with the help of an umbrella, we were able to cook the crumble just in time before we had to leave the forest because of the thunder. We ate the crumble for our snack in the afternoon and everyone was very happy.
Miss Sarah made some animals using sticks and pine cones, which the bears were all very proud of and took them home at the end of the day.
With Miss Nikki, the children looked at story sequencing. They discussed about stories having a beginning, middle and end. They examined some picture cards and assisted Miss Nikki in putting them into the correct order.
Have an amazing weekend and see you all next week.
